Music Worlds and Event Networks: An Exposition

چکیده

Musical activity in contemporary societies clusters distinct ‘music worlds’, centred on such factors as style and/or locality. A number of studies have analysed these music worlds networks participants, linked a variety ways. This is useful but only captures some aspects worlds, neglecting others. In this article I introduce the concept ‘event networks’ complement which allows us to capture much that ‘participant exclude. An event network sequence events, gigs, certain pairs are by flow both participants (e.g. artists, audience members and support personnel) various resources (evolving) conventions those carry with them. It forms an important part social structure world we can analyse it, empirically, using analysis (SNA). first elaborate theoretically upon its significance relation worlds. second develop via illustrative empirical network. The purpose stimulate further discussion networks, interpretation their properties possibilities for future analyses.

LivingSpace: A Living Worlds Implementation using an Event-based Architecture

We present LivingSpace, an implementation of the Living Worlds Working Group's draft specification for the use of Virtual Reality Modelling Language to support multi-user Virtual Environments. The description of the implementation focuses on the use of the Keryx Internet Notification System to provide the essential infrastructure. The usefulness of the resultant open architecture is demonstrate...

An Extensible Event-Based Infrastructure for Networked Virtual Worlds

Many VR platforms emphasize extensibility to support as wide a range of applications as possible. The current trend is to move this extensibility to lower levels of the system to support extensibility of infrastructure mechanisms such as networking protocols. This kind of extensibility allows the runtime of the virtual environment system to evolve even while the system is running. This paper pr...

Randomness Extractors – An Exposition

Randomness is crucial to computer science, both in theory and applications. In complexity theory, randomness augments computers to offer more powerful models. In cryptography, randomness is essential for seed generation, where the computational model used is generally probabilistic. However, ideal randomness, which is usually assumed to be available in computer science theory and applications, ...

An Exposition on Inflationary Cosmology

This paper is intended to offer a pedagogical treatment of inflationary cosmology, which is accessible to undergraduates. In recent years, inflation has become accepted as a standard scenario making predictions that are testable by observations of the cosmic background. It is therefore manifest that anyone wishing to pursue the study of cosmology and large-scale structure should have this scena...

NanoPeer Networks and P2P Worlds

We present the NanoPeers architecture paradigm, a peer-to-peer network of lightweight devices, lacking all or most of the capabilities of their computer-world counterparts. We identify the problems arising when we apply current routing and searching methods to this nano-world, and present some initial solutions, using a case study of a sensor network instance; Smart Dust. Furthermore, we propos...
